The Will of Ralph Clark
This is the
last Will
and
Testament of
me Ralph
Clark of
Pinchbeck in
the County
of Lincoln
Farmer and
Grazier.
First I will
and direct
that all my
just debts
and Funeral
Expenses be
fully paid
and
satisfied.
Also I give
unto my Son
Thomas Clark
my set of
Silver Coat
and
Waistcoat
Buttons.
Also I give
and bequeath
unto my
Grandson
Thomas
Goodman my
Silver
Tankard.
Also I give
devise and
bequeath
unto my
Friends
William
Wiles of
Pinchbeck
aforesaid,
Valentine
Ingram of
Surfleet in
the said
County and
Nathaniel
Goodbarne of
Kirkby
Laythorpe in
the said
County,
Farmers and
Graziers,
All and
every my
shedduages
Cottages
Lands
Tenements
and
Hereditaments
whatsoever
and
wheresoever
with their
and every of
their Rights
Members and
Appurtenances.
And also all
my Stock
Cattle and
all other my
Goods
Chattels
personal
Estate and
Effects
whatsoever
and
wheresoever
and of what
nature or
kind soever
the same be
and not
hereinbefore
disposed of
by this my
Will, to
hold the
same unto
them the
said William
Wiles,
Valentine
Ingram and
Nathaniel
Goodbarne
their Heirs,
Executors,
Administrators
and Afsigns
upon the
several
Trusts and
for the
interests
and purposes
hereinafter
mentioned,
that is to
say Upon
Trust that
they the
said William
Wiles,
Valentine
Ingram and
Nathaniel
Goodman or
the
Survivors or
Survivor of
them or the
Heirs,
Executors or
Administrators
of such
Survivor
shall and do
as soon as
conveniently
may be after
my decease
sell and
dispose of
the same for
the best
price or
prices in
Money that
can or may
be had or
got for the
same to such
person or
persons and
in such
manner as
they my said
Trustees or
the
Survivors or
Survivor of
them or the
Heirs,
Executors or
Administrators
of such
Survivor
shall in
their or his
discretion
think most
proper. And
I do hereby
declare my
will and
mind to be
that the
Receipt and
Receipts of
them the
said William
Wiles,
Valentine
Ingram and
Nathaniel
Goodbarne or
the
Survivors or
Survivor of
them or the
Heirs,
Executors or
Administrators
of such
Survivor
shall be
good and
sufficient
Acquittances
and
Discharged
to the
purchaser or
purchasers
of my said
Real and
personal
Estate or
any part or
parcel
thereof for
his or her
or their
respective
purchase
Monies or
for so much
thereof for
which such
receipt or
receipts
shall be
given
without such
purchaser or
purchasers
being
obliged to
see to the
Application
or being
answerable
or
accountable
for the
misapplication
or
nonapplication
of the said
purchase
Monies or
any part
thereof. And
upon this
further
Trust that
they my said
Trustees or
the
Survivors or
Survivor of
them or the
Heirs,
Executors or
Administrators
of such
Survivor
shall and do
when and as
soon as my
real and
personal
Estates are
Sold and
Converted
into Money
as aforesaid
In the first
place,
deduct and
retain in
their Hands
All such
reasonable
Costs,
Charges and
Expenses as
they may
have been at
or put to in
the Sale and
disposal
thereof. And
then shall
and do pay
the Sum of
Four hundred
pounds (part
of the said
Monies to
arise by
Sale of my
said Real
and Personal
Estates as
aforesaid)
unto my Wife
Elizabeth
Clark in
satisfaction
and full
discharge of
a Bond given
by me
previous to
and in
Consideration
of my
Marriage
with her.
And then
shall and do
pay the Sum
of fifty
pounds other
part of the
said Monies
unto my
Grandson
Ralph Clark
in case he
shall then
have
attained his
Age of
twenty one
Years. And
if not shall
and do
retain the
same in
their Hands
for his use
until he
shall have
attained
said age and
then pay the
same unto
him for his
own use and
apply the
Interest
thereof in
the mean
time for his
benefit. And
all the
rest,
residue and
remainder of
the said
Monies
arising from
the Sale of
my said Real
and personal
Estates
after
payment of
All my just
Debts,
Funeral
Expenses and
the Expense
of proving
this my Will
shall and do
pay and
divide unto
and between
my said Son
Tomas Clark
and my
Daughter
Hannah the
Wife of
Thomas
Goodborne of
Old Sleaford
in the said
County
Farmer
equally
share and
share alike
to and for
their own
use. Any my
will and
mind is and
I do hereby
Will and
direct that
my said
Trustees do
endeavour to
get my said
Son Thomas
Clark
admitted
Tenant to
all such
Lands as I
shall rent
or hold at
the time of
my Decease
and give up
the
profsefsion
thereof To
him on the
first day of
April next
after my
decease. And
last I do
appoint the
said William
Wiles,
Valentine
Ingram and
Nathaniel
Goodman
joint
Executors of
this my
Will. In
Witnefs
whereof I
the said
Ralph Clark
the Testator
have to this
my last Will
and
Testament
contained in
two sheets
of paper set
my hand and
seal to wit,
to the first
sheet hereof
my hand and
to this
second and
last sheet
my hand and
seal this
third day of
May in the
Year of our
Lord one
thousand
eight
hundred and
three.
