In the Name of God Amen I John Christmas of Dunsfold in the County of Surrey being in good health of Body and of sound and disposing Mind memory and understanding (praised be God for the same) doe make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) ffirst and principally I commend my Soule to God begging Pardon for my Sins hopeing for Mercy through the Meritts of my Saviour Jesus Christ And my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the Discretion of my loveing Wife and Executrix hereinafter named And as for what Estate I have in this World I give and Dispose thereof as followeth Impris I give Devise and bequeath unto my loving Wife Jane Christmas All that my Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances lyeing and being in Hambledon Street in the said County of Surrey To have and to hold the said Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances unto the said Jane Christmas my Wife for and during the Terme of her naturall Life only And fro and immediately after my said Wife’s Decease I give Devise and bequeath the said Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances unto my Godson Thomas Caplon son of Thomas Caplon of Hascomb and unto his Heirs and assignes for ever paying thereout unto my other Godson John Mower the sume of ffive pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain which I doe hereby give and bequeath unto him to be paid unto him by my said Godson Thomas Caplon out of the said Messuage or Tenement within three Months next after my said Wifes decease item all the rest and residue of my Goods Chattells and personall Estate whatsoever and wheresoever of what nature or Kinde soever after payment of my debts and ffunerall Charges I give Devise and bequeath unto the said Jane Christmas my loveing Wife her Executors Administrators and assignes for ever And lastly I doe make ordaine constitute and Appoint the said Jane Christmas my loveing Wife Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have to this my lsat Will and Testament contained in this one Sheet of Paper sett my hand and seale this ffirst day of September in the Tenth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lady Anne by the Grace of God of Great Britain ffrance and Ireland Queene Defender of the ffaith Annoque Domini 1711 (John Christmas his marke)
