The Will of William Butcher

 

In the Name of God Amen I William Butcher of the parish of St George in the County of Middlesex Baker being of bad State of Health but of sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding (praised be God for the same) and considering the uncertainty of this Transitory and Momentary Life and the certainty of Death Do for the avoiding Controversies that arise or happen after my Decease make publish and declare these presents to be and contain my only last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say ffirst and principally I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping and steadfastly believing through the Death Merits and Passion of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to receive full Pardon and free Remission of my manifold Sins and Transgressions and my Body I commit to the Earth to decently buried and interred at the Discretion and Direction of my Executrix hereby after nominated and appointed and as for touching and concerning all such Worldly Effects as Almighty God has been pleased to bestow upon me I dispose thereof as followeth That is I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved Wife Mary Butcher the Executrix of this my last Will and Testament my Estates Effects and Legacys of what kind nature or quality soever the same may be that I shall die possessed of or intitled unto at the time of my Decease and I do hereby make nominate and appoint the said Mary Butcher my beloved and lawfull Wife sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament And I do also revoke make null and void all former and other Will and Wills Testament and Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore and do publish and declare these presents to be and contain my only last Will and Testament contained in one Sheet of Paper set my Hand and Seal in the Presence of the underwritten Witnesses the eleventh day of November in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and fforty six and in the Twentieth Year of the Reign of our Soveraigne Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the ffaith and so forth-Wm Butcher
