The Will of Richard Burton

 

In the Name of God Amen Richard Burton in the County of Kent Yeoman do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I commit my Body to the Earth to be decently buryed in the Church of Woodnesborow at the discretion of my Executrix and   ?   hereafter named and my soule into the hands of Almighty God in full assurance of my salvation through the   ?   ?  and   ? of Jesus Christ.  And for the disposal of my temporall Estate whosowith God hath been  ?   to   ?  me I give unto my youngest daughter Anna Burton four hundred pound to be paid or assigned over in good debts by my Executrix unto  my   ?  Brother Thomas Burton within three months    ?   after my decease.  And my will and    ?   is that my Brother Thomas Burton should give unto my Executrix good and sufficient security upon the Receipt of the money   ?   assignment of the Board that he shall duly pay unto my daughter Anna it in a five pound every quarter of a year until she shall attain the age of eighteen years and then to pay her the full sum of four hundred pounds. And if it shall happen that my daughter Anna depart this life before she shall attain the age of Eighteen years then my Will and desire is that two hundred pounds of her portion should be paid unto her sister Elizabeth or to her child or children if she hath any and the other two hundred pounds as part of her portion unto my Brother Thomas Burtons three children one hundred pounds unto his son and fifty pounds a ? to either of his daughters  ?  I give unto my daughter Anna eight pounds in gold to be paid to her immediately after my decease further my will and   ?   is that my daughter Anna should remain and abode with my Executrix for six months after my decease at the charge of my Executrix I   ?  and I give to my cousin William Hopper of Dover five pounds to be paid to him within three months after my decease   ?   I give unto my Brother Thomas Burton four pounds to be paid unto him within three months after my decease   ?   I give to the poore of the parish of Woodnesborow twenty shillings to be paid within one month after my decease and to be disposed of at the discretion of the Church Warden and   ?   ?   I give unto my daughter Elizabeth all my good chattels plate household stuff cropps stock and all other my   ?     coall  and personal whatsoever not disposed of before in this my will.  And  do nominate and appoint her sole Executrix of this my last will and testament.  And do hereby make void and revoke all former wills and other  ?   of my estate whatsoever. And further I do appoint and   ?   my loveing Brother Thomas Burton to be assistant and   ?  to my Executrix that this my will may be fully and effectually performed and executed in witness whereof I have set to my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of August in the year of Our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty two and I do declare this to be my will and testament the mark of Richard Burton in the presence of John Cason   Thomas Blechnisen  Jnr.  

This Will was Proved at London the three and twentieth day of September one thousand six hundred and fifty two before Nathaniel Brent Knight Doctor of Law and Master or Keeper of the Prorogative Court. Lawfully constituted by the oath of Elizabeth Burton the daughter of the said deceased and sole executrix named in the said will to whom was granted Administration of all and singular the good chattels and debts of the said deceased thus being (by commission) sworn  ?  to administer the same/
