The Will of John Burton

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Burton of Deeping Saint James in the County of Lincoln Yeoman made the tenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven ffirst I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catherine the Wife of Samuel Windsor the sum of forty pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my Grandchildren John Toon Elizabeth Toon Ann Toon and William Toon and William Burton and John Burton the like sum of forty pounds apiece Also I give and bequeath unto my Brother William Burton and Grandaughter Susannah Johnson the sum of ten pounds apiece And to my Grandson John Baron I give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds And which several and respective Legacies I give to the respective Legatees and direct to be paid at the end of six Calendar Months after my decease I also give and bequeath unto my Sisters Mary Johnson of Ashton and Susannah Newcombe of Marholm the sum of five pounds apiece to be paid at the expiration of six Months after my decease And all the residue and remainder of my monies and Securities for money Goods Chattels and Effects I do give and bequeath unto my daughter Susannah the Wife of Edward Baron at the end of six Calendar Months after my decease to and for her own use and benefit And I do make nominate constitute and appoint William Goodale of Market Deeping in the said County Grazier and Jonathan Pilkington of Market Deeping aforesaid Grocer and Draper joint Executors in Trust of this my Will and I give unto them the sum of one pound each over and above all necessary expences for their care and trouble in and about the same And lastly I revoke and make void all other Wills by me made and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said John Burton have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year aforesaid The Mark & Seal X of John Burton

30 January 1832 Memorandum My Sister Susannah Newcombe being dead I do give the five pounds bequeathed to her by my Will unto my daughter Susannah Burton at the end of six Months after my decease My Clothes I give to my Brother William Burton And I do revoke the Gift of forty pounds to my daughter Catherine Windsor as her husband has had the money from me And I direct that this writing be taken as part of my Will upon the other half sheet Witness my hand The Mark X of John Burton Witness Wm Taylor _ Ann Taylor
