In the name of god amen the 27th
day of Aprill in Anno dom’1619 and in the yeares of the Raigne
of our Sov’aigne Lord James by the grace of god of England &
France and Ireland kinge defender of the faith etc. the 17th
and of Scotlande the two and fifteenth I Nicholas Burscowe of
Hadocke in the County of Lanc’ husbandman beinge sicke in bodye
but whole of mynde and of good and p’fecte Remembrance thankes
be to god doe ordayne constitute and make this my laste will and
testam’te in mann’ and forme followinge that is to saye firste
and princypally I give and bequeath my soule into the handes of
almightie god my maker and redeemer trusteinge assuredly by the
meritte death and passion of my Savio’r Jesus Christe to Rise
againe at the daye of resurrection and my bodye to be buryed in
my p’ishe Church yord of winwicke there to Remaine in the besome
of the earth untill by the sounde of the trumpe’ I shalbe awaked
and as concerninge my worldly goodes I doe dispose of them as
followeth that is to say Impr’mis it is my will and mynde that
my funerall expence and legasies by payde & discharged out of my
whole goodes and the Reste and residewe thereof I give and
bequeath to Elizabeth my wyfe and Humphrey my sonne to be dealte
and devided into thre p’tes whereof it is my will and mynde that
Elizabeth my saide wiefe shall have the thirde p’te of all my
sayde goodes Cattells and Chattells what so ev’r moveable and
unmoveable and the Reste thereof to be and remayne unto my saide
sonne Humphrey he payinge and dischargeinge my whole debtes
whatsoev’r Item I give and bequeath to James Naylor five
shillings John Naylor five shillings and Ellen Naylor five
shillings Children of Mathewe Naylor Item it is my will and
mynde and doe give & bequeath to John Orford 12d to
Margarett Orforde twelve pence and to Alice Orforde two
shillings Children of John Orforde Item it is my will and mynde
and I doe give and bequeath unto Jane Downall daughter of Peeter
Downall twelve pence Item I give and bequeath to Wyllyam
Orford sonne of Willyam Orforde two shillings Item I give and
bequeath to John Burscowe my brother fortie shillings
Item it is my will and mynde and I doe
hereby appointe and make Elizabeth my sayde wife and Humphrey my
sonne my true and Lawfull executors hopinge and nevertheless
Requireinge them to p’forme all things herein Contayned as my
truste is in them Item it is my will and mynde and I doe hereby
apoynte and make Thomas Lowe of Ashton and Mathewe Naylor of
Hadocke afforesayd sup’vissors of this my laste will and
testament hopeinge that they will see all things herein
Contained to bee p’formed accordinge to this my laste will as my
trust is in them reposed.
