In the Name of the ever Blessed and
adorable Trinity Amen I William Burgess of Newlyn in the Parish
of Paul Commander in her Majestys Navy being of sound mind
memory and understanding blessed be God for the same do make
this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following
that is to say I resign my Soul into the hands of my most
merciful Creator hoping through the merits and passion of my
blessed Saviour to obtain pardon of all my Sins and my body to
the ground with as little expence as may be ffirst I give devise
and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Tregurtha the house I now live
in with all the furniture therein except such as may be
hereafter mentioned to hold the same to her for her natural life
during which time the house is to be kept in good & sufficient
repair and the furniture in good condition and from and
immediately after her decease I give devise and bequeath the
said house and furniture to her Son Edward Primrose Tregurtha
for his natural life and to his Wife Elizabeth during her
natural life and after their respective deaths to their son
Edward Primrose Tregurtha should he survive them To hold the
same to him his exors admors and assigns but in case he should
not be living at the time of their respective deaths or should
he die leaving no issue then I give devise and bequeath the said
house and furniture to William Burgess Goldsmith the Son of
Charles and Mary Goldsmith to hold the same to him his exors
admors and assigns Also I give and bequeath to my said Daughter
Mary Tregurtha all my shares in Seams and Mines for the purpose
of being sold as soon as convenient after my decease in order to
pay off my debts if any outstanding at that time Also I give and
bequeath to my said Daughter all the four dwelling houses and
one Cellar Situate in Church Street which are likewise to be
sold if required for the purpose of paying off my debts but if
not so required to hold the same to her her exors admors and
assigns Also I give and bequeath to my aforesaid Daughter all my
two shares in the London Shipping Company for the purpose of
paying my present Servant Ann Pascoe five pounds and five
shillings per annum in four equal quarterly payments if required
during her natural life and from and immediately after her
decease I give and bequeath the said two shares to Sophia and
Matilda Tregurtha in equal shares until either of them shall be
married on which event the share shall fall to Ann Tregurtha and
after their respective deaths I give and bequeath the said two
shares to Mary Goldsmith for her own proper use and benefit also
I give and bequeath to my said Servant Ann Pascoe the bed
bedstead and bedding which she now sleeps on in addition to the
five pounds and five shillings per annum before mentioned in
consequence of her kind attention to her late Mistress and
myself for many years I give and bequeath to my Great grandson
William Burgess Goldsmith my Silver Goblet as a memento for him
to endeavour through life to emulate the same approved line of
conduct which caused its presentation And I do hereby make
ordain constitute and appoint my said Daughter Mary Tregurtha
sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby
revoking all former and other Wills and Testaments by me at any
time heretofore made desiring to be interred in the same grave
with my late Wife and that out of the proceeds of my property my
said Executrix shall cause to be placed on my Grave a Stone or
Tablet enclosed by an Iron railing In Witness whereof I have to
this my last Will and Testament set and subscribed my hand and
seal this fifteenth day of June in the Year of our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and thirty nine _ Wm Burgess
