The Will of Francis Bullock

 

In the Name of God Amen I Francis Bullock of Netherton in the parish of Fyfield in the County of Berks Yeoman being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do for the disposing of that Estate which it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following And first I commend my Soul to God and my body to the Earth to be buried in such decent manner as my Executors hereinafter named shall think fit Also I give and bequeath unto my brother William Bullock the legacy of one guinea to be paid him immediately after my decease to buy him a mourning ring Also I give and bequeath unto Thomas Stone of Fyfield aforesaid the legacy of half a guinea to be paid him immediately after my decease for his trouble hereinafter mentioned Also I give and bequeath unto my brother William Bullock and Thomas Stone both of Fyfield as aforesaid Yeomen and to the survivor of them and to the Executors Administrators and Assigns of such survivor All those my freehold lands tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances which I hold in fee simple situate lying and being at Netherton in the parish of Fyfield aforesaid together with all other my worldly estate and effects both real and personal To hold the value to them the said William Bullock and Thomas Stone their Executors Administrators and Assigns from and immediately after my decease for and during the term of ten years from the date hereof without impeachment of waste In trust nevertheless in the first place that they the said William Bullock and Thomas Stone their Executors Administrators and Assigns do and shall permit and suffer my loving wife Catherine Bullock to hold and enjoy all my said real and personal estate from and immediately after my decease for and during such part of her natural life as she shall remain my widow and unmarried she paying unto my son William Bullock yearly the sum of three pounds a year of lawful British money (if required) Also in trust that they my said trustees do nor shall not permit nor suffer my said wife to cut or take away any timber from of my said estate except for necessary repairs on my herein devised premises and from and immediately after the decease or marriage of my said wife then in trust that they the said William Bullock and Thomas Stone their Executors Administrators and Assigns do and shall permit and suffer each and every of my children to take have hold and enjoy their respective shares and proportions of this my worldly estate both real and personal according .. it is hereinafter written willed and bequeathed and first I give and bequeath unto my son William Bullock my Clock and my dresser and shelves thereto belonging Then I desire that the residue and remainder of my household goods, that is those goods that are generally used and be within my said dwelling house, be equally divided amongst all and every of my said children in equal shares and proportions Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Bullock the sum of twenty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid by my son William Bullock within two years after the decease or marriage of my said wife Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Bullock the sum of eighty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid by my son William Bullock within two years after the decease or marriage of my said wife Also I give devise and bequeath unto my son William Bullock all those my said freehold lands tenements and hereditaments aforesaid with the appurtenances to hold the said lands tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances unto and to the use of my said son William Bullock his heirs and assigns for ever and I hereby doth farther restrain constrain and confine my said son William Bullock from selling or mortgaging those my freehold lands tenements and hereditaments aforesaid that he shall not by any ways or means directly or indirectly sell or make over to any person or persons whatsoever nor mortgage or receive money on nor otherwise entangle or entail those my said freehold lands and premises or any part or parcel thereof during the term of his natural life And as for and concerning all my goods chattels ready money debts owing to me and personal estate of what nature or kind which shall remain after payment of my debts legacies and funeral expenses and the funeral expenses of my said wife if unmarried I give and bequeath the same unto my son William Bullock aforesaid to and for his own use and benefit And also I do hereby make constitute and appoint my brother William Bullock and Thomas Stone aforesaid joint Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other wills by me heretofore made In witness whereof

I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of December in the eleventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Third and in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and seventy Francis Bullock
Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Francis Bullock the testator as and for his last will and testament in our presence and in his presence and at his request attested and subscribed by us John Batts John Weaving Thos Mu....

This Will was proved at London the tenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two before the Right Worshipful George Day Doctor of Law Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of William Bullock the brother of the deceased and Thomas Stone the Executors named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by commission duly to administer
