The Will of John Broxholme

In the Name of God Amen I John Broxholme
Citizen and Haberdasher of London being weak in Body but of
sound and disposing Mind and Memory praise be therefore given to
Almighty God for the same but considering the Certainty of death
and the Uncertainty of the time thereof do therefore make and
declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following vizt
ffirst and Principally I commend my soul into the Hands of
Almighty God my Creator hoping and assuredly believing that by
and through the Meritts Death and Passion of my only Saviour and
Redeemer Jesus Christ to obtain full Pardon and free Remission
of all my Sins and to inherit eternal life my Body in Hopes of a
joyfull Resurrection I commit to the Earth to be decently
interred at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named And
as touching such temporall Estate as God in his infinite Mercyes
hath blessed me with I give and dispose of the same as followeth
vizt Imprimis I desire that all such just Debts as shall be by
me owing at the time of my decease be first fully paid and
satisfied Item I give and bequeath to my loving Brother Mr
Bolton and his Wife and to my Sister Mrs Rebecca Nicholls and to
each and every one of them one Guinea apiece to buy them Rings
to wear in Remembrance of me Item I give and bequeath to my
ffather in Law Mr James Auselyn and his Wife one Guinea each for
Rings and to my two Servants ffrancis Harper and Edward Anderton
two guineas apiece the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Estate
consisting in ready money and Moneys at Interest Bonds Bills
Household Goods Plate Book Debts Stock in Trade or otherwise
howsoever or wheresoever I give and dispose of the same to my
loving Wife Mary Broxholme her Executors and Administrators And
I do hereby make nominate and appoint my loving Wife Mary
Broxholme and my said ffather in Law James Auselyn joint
Executors of this my last Will and Testament And Lastly I doe
hereby revoak countermand and make void all former and other
Wills Bequests and Legacyes by me at any time heretofore made
and do make and declare this only to be my last Will and
Testament and none other or otherwise In Witness whereof I the
said John Broxholme the Testator have to this my last Will and
Testament contained in two Sheets of Paper sett my Hand and Seal
to each Sheet this four and twentieth day of June Ann Domini one
thousand seven hundred and twenty seven and in the first year of
the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace
of God of Great Brittain ffrance and Ireland King Defender of
