The Will of Joseph Brittle

 

I Joseph Brittle of No 17 Haberdasher Square Grub Street in the City of London Lacquerer being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding Do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) I give devise and bequeath all my household furniture plate linen china Clothes books debts my said business of a Lacquerer and all other property whatsoever and wheresoever that I shall be possessed of at the time of my decease unto my dear Wife Mary Brittle and my two Daughters Caroline the Wife of Edward David Mariner of No 17 Haberdasher Square aforesaid and Elizabeth Brittle of the same place Spinster Upon trust to stand possessed of the annual income arising from the same equally between them during the life of my said Wife and from and immediately after the decease of my said Wife Then it is my will and I hereby desire that my said property (exclusive of my said business of a Lacquerer which I desire shall go to and be for the sole benefit of my said two Daughters Caroline David and Elizabeth Brittle and the survivor of them their heirs and Assigns for ever) shall be valued that one third part thereof shall go to my said Daughter Caroline David one other third part thereof shall go to my said Daughter Elizabeth Brittle and the remaining one other third part thereof to go to and between my other three Daughters Mary Ann Parry the Wife of Henry Parry of Deptford Martha Brittle Spinster and Matilda fforde Widow and the survivors and survivor of them my said three last named Daughters And that the amount or value of the third part or share to be paid to my said three Daughters and the survivors and survivor of them shall be paid by my Executrixes hereinafter mentioned within six months after the decease of my said Wife And I appoint my said Daughters Caroline David and Elizabeth Brittle and each of them Executrixes of this my Will and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In testimony whereof I the said Testator Joseph Brittle have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of November in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine _ The mark of Joseph Brittle X
