THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF GRACE BRIGGS – 20-01-1896

This
is the last Will and Testament of me Grace Briggs, Widow, of 27
Gerrard Street, Halifax in the County of York made this twentieth
day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred
and ninety six. I hereby revoke all Wills by me at anytime
heretofore made. I appoint and nominate Alfred Fletcher, Draper,
Halifax to be my Executor and I direct that all my just debts and
funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid as soon as possible
after my decease. I hereby give and bequeath unto my executor all
my freehold houses at Guiseley near Leeds for the purpose of
discharging monies owing by me to him and other lawful debts and
funeral expense. Providing my freehold property at Guiseley shall
be sufficient for this purpose then my Executor shall be empowered
to retain the rent of my freehold house No. 4 Milton Terrace,
Halifax until such time as all my just debts are paid. I give and
bequeath my house 4 Milton Terrace to my stepdaughter Esther Briggs
for and during her natural life and at her death I will and bequeath
my house 4 Milton Terrace to be divided into three shares one share
to my niece Mary-Hannah Tankard one share to my nieces daughters of
my late brother Edwin and one share to my step-granddaughter Esther
Grace Annie Fletcher. This Will is signed on my behalf and at my
request by John Alfred Fletcher

last Will and Testament in presence of us who at her request in our
presence and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our
names as witnesses

what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as
a Trustee and not beneficially) amounts to £12.1.0”
