The Will of John Brewer

 

In the name of God Amen The six day of July in the yeare of our Lord 1649 I John Brewer of Clatworthy in the County of Sumerset husbandman being sick of body but perfect remembrance thanks be to god for the same doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme following ffirst I bequeath my soule unto Almighty god And my body to be buried in the Church yard of Brompton Ralfe Item I give unto Nathaniel Brewer and Valentine Brewer of the Parish of Brompton Ralfe the Tenement in Week which now I live in Item I give unto Joan Marting the daughter of Christopher Marting the sume of five pounds to be paid unto her when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares by my Executor Item I give Phillip Brewer of Brompton Ralfe fifteen of the best sheepe which I have at the hill Item I give Thomas Brewer of Brompton Ralfe my Mare and the ……Colt and five sheep at the hill after his brother Phillip hath chosen Item I give William Barchill of the Parish of Brompton Ralfe the sume of tenn shillings Item I give unto Richard Bourrowe of the parish of Clatworthy the younger and John and Elizabeth Burrow the sume of tenn shillings apiece Item I give unto Edith Burrow my selting Trendle Item I give unto John Lancombe and his wife and Mary Darch and Margarett King of the parish of Clatworthy six shillings and eight pence apiece Item I give unto the widdow Marting and the widdow Bickham of the parish of Clatworthy two shillings apiece Item I give unto the poore of the Church house of Clatworthy two shillings apiece Item I give unto the poore of the Church howse of Brompton Ralfe the sume of fower shillings Item I give unto John Chapling the younger of the parish of Brompton Ralfe the sume of tenn shillings when he is of the age of one and twenty yeares Item the said Nathaniel Brewer and Valentine Brewer are not to enter upon the tenement within twenty fower weekes after my death Item if the Mare be taken for a heriot then my Executor is to pay him six pounds to Thomas Brewer Item I give unto Barbara Brewer the wife of Thomas Brewer one ewe sheep Item I give unto Christopher Marting one Ram Item I give Phillipp Brewer my …..sheete and two baggs Item I give unto Robert Brewer of Norton thirteene shillings and six pence Item I give unto Nathaniell Brewer and Valentine Brewer my chest in the hall and my brasse pott my bedsteed and bedding Item I give a chest which standeth within my mothers howse at Brompton which was given me by my ffather unto Christopher Marting All my goods not given or bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my brother William Brewer of Wiveliscombe whome I doe make my whole sole Executor of this my last will and testament Wittness my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written John Brewer sealed and delivered in the presence of Richard Burrows John Webb Edith Burrows
