The Will of Thomas Box

 

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Box late of the Parish of St James Westminster in the County of Middlesex Gent late servant to Mr Dowdeswell and now of Hooknorton in the County of Oxon being but weak in body but of perfect mind and memory (praise to Allmighty God for the same) but calling to mind the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time doe make and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to say ffirst and principally I recommend my soul into the hands of Allmighty God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching and concerning such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to blesse me in this life I give bequeath and dispose of the same in manner following(that is to say) I give and bequeath unto my brother William Box the sum of twenty pounds of currant money of Great Britain Item I give unto my Sister Sarah Box the like sume of twenty pounds and to my Sister Mary Box I likewise give the like sume of twenty pounds which said severall sumes I will shall be paid to them severally within six moneths next after my decease which said Sixty pounds is to be paid to them out of the moneys due to me from Benjamin Morris Item I give and bequeath unto my said brother William Box all my woollen wearing apparel of what nature or kind soever or wheresoever the same is Item I doe hereby give unto my loveing Uncle John Box of Hookenorton aforesaid in the said County of Oxon Yeoman all the moneys he hath of mine in his hands and likewise I give and bequeath unto him what shall remaine of my personall Estate after my debts legacies and funeral expences shall be paid and discharged And I doe hereby constitute ordaine and appoint my said Uncle John Box my full whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and I doe hereby declare this and no other to be my last will and Testament In witness whereoff I have hereunto sett my hand and seale this fifth day of March in the Eleveanth year of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lady Anne by the grace of God of Great Britaine ffrance and Ireland Queen Defender of the faith Annoq Domini 1712/13
