The Will of John Bordman
In the name of GOD Amen the second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred sixty and three, I JOHN BORDMAN of Middle Hulton in the County of Lancaster, collier, being at this present infirm and sick in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory, praise be God for the same, and considering the certainty of death I do, therefore constitute, ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say.
Concerning the temprall estate of goods wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with it is my will and mind that whereas I stand now possessed of a parcel of ground by me enclosed under my good Lord and Master JOHN EARL OF BRIDGEWATER and the same Close Called the new croft being set forth by master Raphe Ednes one of my Lord Comissioners in or about February last past.
And it is my mind and will, and I do hereby devise, asign and set over the foresaid new croft last enclosed with all my right, title, interest, goodwill, Cleame and Demand whatsoever unto WILLIAM SIXSMITH, my son in law and MARGARET his now wife, to receive and take the issues and profits thereof yearly, from time to time so long as it may please my Lord and master to suffer them to enjoy the same.
The said WILLIAM SIXSMITH and MARGARET his wife paying such rents and services as my Lord and commisioners shall appoint or think fit..
And I humbly desire Master Raphe Edmiss? To endeavour to asist them in the quiet occupation thereof, to enter after my decease.
Item, I give and bequeath unto GEORGE WITHINTON, my son in law all the stone troughs and the long ladder, but he is not to receive them until the decease of ANNE my wife.
Item it is my mind and will that my debts and funeral expenses be taken out of my whole goods and the remainder and residue of my whole personal estate be divided into two equal parts and distributed betwix ANNE my wife and MARGARET my daughter.
And of this my last will and testament, I ordaine and make ANNE my wife and WILLIAM SIXSMITH my son in law Executors hoping the y will faithfully Execute the same as my trust is in them reposed., in witness whereof, I have hereunto put my hand and seal, the day and year first above written.
