The Will of Nathaniel Bond
This is the last Will
and Testament of me Nathaniel Bond of East
Holme in the County of Dorset Esquire made
and published the thirtieth day of July in
the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven
hundred and eighty nine as follows that is
to say ffirst I give devise and bequeath all
and singular my Manors Lordships Messuages
ffarms Lands Tenements Rents Hereditaments
and Real Estates with all and singular the
Rights Members Advantages Priviledges and
Appurts thereunto belonging incident or
appertaining situate lying and being in the
said County of Dorset or elsewhere and also
all and singular my Monies Securities for
Money Stock Bonds Bills Notes Household
ffurniture Plate Household Linnen and all
other my personal Estate and Effects
whatsoever and wheresoever (severally
subject to and chargeable with the Payment
of the two several Annuities and the several
Legacies hereinafter mentioned given devised
and bequeathed) unto my Nephew Nathaniel
Bond of the Inner Temple London Barrister at
Law To have and to hold the same and every
part thereof (severally subject to and
chargeable as aforesaid and as is
hereinafter mentioned) unto him my said
Nephew Nathaniel Bond his Heirs Executors
Administrators and Assigns for ever Also I
give and devise unto my Brother the Reverend
Denis Bond one Annuity or clear Yearly Sum
of ffifty Pounds in lawful Money of Great
Britain to be paid him Yearly and every Year
by my said Nephew Nathaniel Bond His Heirs
and Assigns out of all and singular my
Manors Lordships Messuages ffarms Lands
Tenements Rents Hereditaments and Real
Estates free from deductions and equal
Quarterly Payments to wit the twenty fifth
Day of March the twenty fourth Day of June
the twenty ninth Day of September and the
twenty fifth Day of December from the day of
my death for and during the term of his
natural life also I give and devise unto my
Sister Margaret Bond one Annuity or clear
Yearly Sum of one hundred pounds in lawful
Money of Great Britain to be paid her Yearly
and every Year by my said Nephew Nathaniel
Bond His Heirs and Assigns out of all and
singular my Manors Lordships Messuages
ffarms Lands Tenements Rents Hereditaments
and Real Estates free from deductions and
equal Quarterly Payments to wit the twenty
fifth Day of March the twenty fourth Day of
June the twenty ninth Day of September and
the twenty fifth Day of December from the
day of my decease for and during the term of
her natural life the first Payment of such
Annuities to be made on such of the said
Days of Payment as shall first happen next
after my decease And my Will and Meaning is
and I do hereby declare and direct that in
case the said Annuities or any Part of them
or either of them shall be behind and unpaid
by the space of twenty days next due and
after either or any of the Days or Times
whereon the same is hereinbefore made
payable That then and in such Case and as
often as it shall so happen it shall and may
be lawful to and for my said Brother Denis
Bond and my said Sister Margaret Bond or
such of them whose Annuity shall be in
Arrears and behind (the same being first
legally demanded and not paid) in to and
upon all and singular my said Manors
Lordships Messuages ffarms Lands Tenements
Rents Hereditaments and Real Estates or any
Part thereof to enter and distrain and such
Distress and Distresses then and there found
to take and drive carry away and impound and
the same in pound to detain and keep or
otherwise to sell and dispose thereof in
manner as the Law directs in uses of
Distress until he or she shall be fully paid
and satisfied as well all such Arrears as
the Costs Charges and Expences of making
keeping and disposing of such Distress and
Distresses Also I give unto my Nephew John
Bond one hundred Guineas to buy him a Ring
Also I give unto my Niece Margaret Sophia
Bond the Sum of ffive hundred Pounds Also I
give unto my Niece Mary Bond the Sum of
ffive hundred Pounds Also I give unto my
Nephew the Reverend Thomas Bond the Sum of
ffive hundred Pounds Also I give and
bequeath unto my Nephew the Reverend William
Bond the Sum of ffive hundred Pounds and my
will is and I do hereby direct that the said
several Legacies shall be severally and
respectively paid the said John Bond
Margaret Sophia Bond Mary Bond Thomas Bond
and William Bond by my said Nephew Nathaniel
Bond out of all and singular my Manors
Lordships Messuages ffarms Lands Tenements
Rents Hereditaments and Real Estates and out
of all and singular my Monies Securities for
Money Stock Bonds Bills Notes Household
ffurniture Plate Household Linnen and all
other my personal Estate to him hereinbefore
given devised and bequeathed at the end of
six Months after my decease Also I give and
bequeath unto the poor of the several and
respective Parishes of Steeple Tyneham East
Stoke and West Lulworth in the said County
of Dorset the Sum of fforty Pounds that is
to say ten pounds to each of the said
Parishes to be paid by my said Nephew
Nathaniel Bond out of my Monies and other
Personal Estate to him hereinbefore given
and to be distributed amongst them by the
respective Ministers and Churchwardens of
the said several Parishes as soon after my
decease as decently and conveniently may be
Also I give and bequeath unto the Reverend
Richard Robinson Curate of East Stoke
aforesaid ten Guineas And my will and desire
is that I may be interred in the Church Yard
at Steeple aforesaid in a plain and private
manner and that the several and respective
Dairymen and Labourers living or usually
working on my ffarm at East Holme aforesaid
at the time of my decease shall bear attend
and carry me to the Church and Grave and
that they shall have on Hatband and Gloves
and be paid one Guinea each for the same
Also I give unto my servant John Strickland
in case he lives with me at the time of my
decease the Sum of one hundred pounds and
also all my woollen Cloaths Also I give unto
my Servant Mary Lucas in case she lives with
me at the time of my decease the Sum of
ffifty Pounds and also all my Shirts
Stockings and Wearing Linnen Also I give
unto my Servant Robert Chisman (in case he
lives with me at the time of my decease) the
Sum of ten Pounds Also I give unto my
Servant Mary Crane in case she lives with me
at the time of my decease the Sum of ten
pounds Also I give unto the Parish Clerk of
Steeple aforesaid one Guinea and my Will and
Intent is that the several last mentioned
Legacies shall be severally paid by my said
Nephew Nathaniel Bond out of my Monies and
other Personal estate Hereinbefore to him
given and bequeathed as soon after my
decease as conveniently may be Also I give
unto George ffilliter Attorney at Law of
Wareham the Sum of ffifty Pounds And Lastly
I do make nominate constitute and appoint my
said Nephew Nathaniel Bond sole Executor of
this my last Will and Testament hereby
revoking and making void all former and
others Wills and Testaments by me at any
time or times heretofore made and declaring
this only to be and contain my whole last
Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and affixed my
Seal the Day and Year first above written N
