The Will of Eliza Bond

 

Death on/or after 1st January 1898

Will.

BE IT KNOWN that Eliza Bond of 3 St Ursula Grove Southsea in the County of Hants widow died on the 21st day of July 1900 at 386 Clapham Road in the County of Surrey

AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date hereunder written the last Will and Testament with a Codicil of the said deceased was proved and registered at the Principal Probate Registry of Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice, and that administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid Court to William Henry Rickatson of 6 Riding House Street Langham Place in the County of Middlesex Leather Merchant the sole Executor named in the said will

Dated the 16th day of August 1900

Gross value of Estate £ 621. 14. 10.

Net value of Personal Estate £ 6. 14. 10.

 

THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

of me ELIZA BOND of No. 3 St. Ursula Grove Southsea in the County of Hants widow I appoint William Henry Rickatson of No. 6 Riding House Street Langham Place in the County of Middlesex Leather Merchant EXECUTOR of this my Will and I direct the payment by him as soon as conveniently may be after my decease of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses I give and bequeath all my wearing apparel plate linen china furniture and other household and consumable effects to my daughter Jessie Jane Eliza Purkis (now residing with me) the wife of Joseph Thomas Purkis an Engineer in the Royal Navy for her own absolute use and benefit I bequeath to my daughter Eliza Ann Sharp the wife of John Harrison Sharp of St. Matthews Schools Arlington Road Camden Town in the County of Middlesex Schoolmaster the legacy or sum of fifty pounds sterling absolutely And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects both real and personal subject to the payment thereout of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses I give and bequeath the same unto and equally between my said two daughters Eliza Ann Sharp and Jessie Jane Eliza Purkis as tenants in common for their own absolute use and benefit Provided always that if either of my said daughters Eliza Ann Sharp and Jessie Jane Eliza Purkis shall predecease me and shall leave a child or children her surviving who being a son or sons shall attain twenty one or being a daughter or daughters shall attain that age or marry under that age then the legacy and share of residue so bequeathed to such daughter so dying shall go to and be taken by such child or children and if more than one as tenants in common in equal shares but in case such daughter who shall so predecease me shall leave no child or children who being a son or sons shall attain twenty one or being a daughter or daughters shall attain that age or marry under that age then the legacy and share of residue so bequeathed to such deceased daughter shall go to and be taken by my surviving daughter in addition to the legacy and share of residue bequeathed to her for her own absolute use and benefit In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this sixteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and ninety – ELIZA BOND – Signed by the testatrix in our presence and by us jointly in her presence – ROBERT HEATH 25 St. Georges Place Hyde Park Corner S.W. – JESSY JANE DEAR 23 St Georges Place Hyde Park Corner S.W.

 

THIS IS A CODICIL to the above written last Will and Testament of me ELIZA BOND I revoke the legacy or sum of fifty pounds sterling bequeathed by my above written Will to my daughter Eliza Ann Sharp the wife of John Harrison Sharp and in all other respects I confirm my said Will IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand this second day of March one thousand eight hundred and ninety four – ELIZA BOND – Signed by the said Testatrix as a codicil to her last Will in

our joint presence and by us jointly attested in her presence – Robert Heath 386 Clapham Road Hat Manufacturer – W.T.* THODY 386 Clapham Road Barge Owner

 

On the 16th day of August 1900 Probate of this Will with a codicil was granted to William Henry Rickatson the sole Executor.

 

 

* The document I received was a typewritten transcript of the will and the initials are wrong – it should be W.J. Thody (William James Thody)
