This is
the last Will and Testament of
me William Bodenham of
Shrewsbury in the County of
Salop mercer Whereas I have
contracted and agreed for the
purchase of a messuage dwelling
house and premises in St Julians
ffriars Shrewsbury from Joseph
Bromfield Esquire and others but
no conveyance thereof hath yet
been made to me Now I do hereby
direct my Executors and Trustees
hereinafter named or the
Survivor of them his heirs
executors and Administrators to
complete the said purchase and
take a conveyance thereof to
them and their heirs upon the
trusts hereinafter mentioned
(that is to say)that they my
said Trustees or the Survivor of
them or his heirs shall and do
as soon after the said purchase
shall be completed as soon as
conveniently may be sell and
dispose of the said
hereditaments and Premises to be
directed to be conveyed to them
as aforesaid for the best price
and most money that can
reasonably be obtained for the
same and stand possessed of the
money to arise therefrom on the
trusts hereinafter mentioned And
I do hereby direct and declare
that the receipt and receipts of
my said trustees and executors
and the survivor of them or his
heirs shall be a good and
sufficient discharge or
discharges to the purchaser or
purchasers of the said premises
after such receipt or receipt so
had and obtained as aforesaid
shall not be bound to see to the
application of the said purchase
money or any part thereof or be
answerable or accountable for
the loss or misapplication
thereof And as to the purchase
money to arise from the sale of
the said premises all my
personal estate of any kind or
description that I die possessed
of I do charge And make liable
to my just debts funeral and
testamentary expences and
subject thereto I give and
bequeath the same to my friends
Mr William Clement and Mr Walter
Burley both of Shrewsbury
aforesaid upon Trust to convert
the whole into money and place
the same out at interest upon
government or other securities
and pay and apply the Interest
dividends and Annual Produce to
and for the Use and benefit of
my only child John Bodenham
until he attains the age of
twenty one years then the whole
principal money to be paid to
him And I do further direct that
the said William Clement and
Walter Burley or the survivor of
them his executors or
administrators shall think
proper it shall and may be
lawful for them to advance the
whole or any part of the
principal money hereinbefore
bequeathed to and for the
benefit of my said child for the
purpose of placing him out
Apprentice or otherwise for his
advancement in life
notwithstanding his minority And
lastly I nominate constitute and
appoint the said William Clement
and Walter Burley Trustees and
Executors of this my Will and
guardians to my said child
during his minority In Witness
whereof I the said William
Bodenham have to this my last
Will and Testament set my hand
and seal this first day of April
