In the Name of God Amen the 3rd
day of January in the year of our Lord 1707 I JOHN BLOW of the
parish of Saint Margarett Westminster in the County of Middlesex Dr
of Musick being sick in body but of sound and perfect mind and
memory thanks be given unto God therefore Calling to mind the
mortality of my Flesh and knowing that it is appointed for all men
once to die doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament,
that is to say, First and principally I give and recommend my soule
into the hands of God who gave it hoping that I shall be saved
through the merits death and passion of my Saviour Christ Jesus And
as for my Body it being of the Mass and Substance of the Earth to
the earth I committ to be decently buried att the discretion of my
executrixes hereafter named. And as for such worldly goods and
estate as it hath please God to bless me with in the Life (my debts
and funerall charges being first paid and satisfyed) I give devise
and dispose of the same in manner and forme following , that is to
say,
Imprimis I give and bequeath
unto my daughter KATHERINE BLOW my two messuages or tenements in the
Great Sanctuary in Westminster aforesaid which I hold by lease or
leases from the Deane and Chapter of Westminster aforesaid.
And to my daughter ELIZABETH
BLOW my two messuages or tenements in Orchard Street in Westminster
which I hold by lease from Sir ROBERT PYE for and during all the
rest and residue of the terme or termes to come in the said Lease or
Leases paying out of the said two last messuages or tenements to her
sister MARY BLOW £3 per annum of lawful money of Great Brittaine by
quarterly payments without any deduction for Taxes.
Item I give and bequeath unto
my said daughter ELIZABETH BLOW all that messuage or tenement in the
Great Sanctuary in Westminster aforesaid now in the possession of my
Father in Law EDWARD BRADDOCK Gent which I hold by lease from the
Deane and Chapter of Westminster aforesaid.
Item I give to my said
daughter MARY BLOW my three messuages or tenements in ?Dick? Lane in
Westminster aforesaid which I hold by lease or leases from Sir
ROBERT PYE for and during all the rest and residue of the terme or
termes to come in the said Lease or Leases.
Item I give and bequeath unto
my said three daughters KATHERINE, ELIZABETH and MARY BLOW all that
my copyhold estate situate and lying and being in the towne of
Hampton in the County of Middlesex with the appurtenances thereunto
belonging to be sold to the best Purchaser and the Money arising
thereby to be equally divided between them share and share alike
together with all the goods thereunto belonging
Item I give unto ELIZABETH
LUDDINGTON my true and faithful servant the ?..? of £100 of lawfull
money of Greate Brittaine and £10 of like lawful money to buy her
mourning also my Ringes which I weare, all my wearing cloaths
morning Gowne and Linnen.
Item I give to my Sister CAGE
£50 of lawfull money of Greate Brittaine and £10 of like lawfull
money to buy her mourning.
Item I give to my neice
ELIZABETH BLOW £50 of lawfull money of Great Brittain to be disposed
of as my said daughters shall think fitt for her use and £6 of like
lawfull money to buy her mourning.
Item I give to my said
daughters all my arreares that shall become due to me att the time
of my decease whatsoever to be equally divided amngst them paying
the Legacies and debts out of the first moneys they shall receive of
mine.
Item all the rest and residue
of my estate whatsoever both Reall and personall plate linnen and
hosuehold goods I give and bequeath unto my said Three Daughters
KATHERINE, ELIZABETH and MARY BLOW equally to be divided between
them share and share alike.
Lastly I do nominate and
appoint my said three daughters KATHERING, ELIZABETH and MARY BLOW
Executrixes of this my last will. And alsoe doe nominate and appoint
the Reverend Doctor RALPH BATTLE Sub Deane of her Majesty’s Chaple
Royall (to whom I give a Guinea to buy him a ring) Trustee of this
my last will and testament revoking and making void all former and
other will or wills legacies bequests or executors by me heretofore
named willed or bequeathed Ratifying and confriming this and noe
other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have
hereunto sett my hand and Seale the day and yeare first above
written And in the 6th year of the Reign of our
Soveraigne Lady Queen Anne of Great Brittain. John Blow.
