The Will of Sarah Bliss
In the Name of God Amen the seventeenth day of
January Anno Domini 1718 I Sarah Bliss of Kislingbury in the County of
Northampton spinster Being very Sick and weak in Body but of perfect
Mind and Memory: Thanks be given unto God; therefore calling unto mind
the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men
once to die: do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is
to say principally and first of all: I give and Recommend my Soul to the
Hands of God that gave it: hoping through the Merrits of my Blessed
Saviour to receive Remission of my Sinns and Consequently Eternal
Salvation and for my Body: I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a
Christian like and decent manner at the Discretion of my Executors
nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the
same again by the mighty power of God: and as touching such Worldly
Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me in this Life: I give
devise and dispose of the Same in the following manner and form:
Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Dearly and wellbeloved Mother Ann
Hall all Thirty pounds of good and Lawfull monies which is now in the
Hands of my Elder Brother John Bliss and with all the interest Due upon
the same: Item I give and bequeath unto my Dearly Beloved Friend Joseph
Marriott the Sum of Tenn Pounds of good and Lawfull monies to be paid to
him by my Executors hereinafter named with in six months after my
Decease and further I do hereby make and Ordain constitute and appoint
my Dear and Loving Mother Ann Hall aforesaid my sole Executrix of this
my Last Will and Testament to whom I do give and bequeath all my
Personall Estate of what value kind or quallity soever freely to be
possessed and Enjoyed: only my Will is that my Executrix pays that
aforesaid monies which is in my Brother John Bliss's hands unto my Dear
and Loving Brother George Bliss and my Deare and Loving Sister Grace
Samson: and my Dear and Loving Sister Elizabeth Bliss as she shall think
fitt for to share it between them: and further the paying my Debts
legacies and ffuneral Expences I do verily Disallow Revoke and Disannul
all and every Testaments Wills and Legacies Bequests and Executors by me
in any ways before this Willed and bequeathed: Ratifying and Confirming
this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament: In Witness whereof I
have set my Hand and Seal the day and year first above written Sarah
