The Will of Richard Blagrave

 

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Blagrave of Shaw in the County of Berks Gent Considering the frailty of this life and the Certainty of Death and having now through Gods mercy the free use of my understanding Doe think fitt to make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament whereby in the first place I committ my Soul into the hands of God my Creator and Maker trusting for Salvation in and through the only merits of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and Redeemer and my body I committ to the Earth to be decently buryed at the Discretion of my Executors hereinafter named And as to my Worldly Estate I give settle and dispose of the same as follows. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my loving Wife Sarah Blagrave the Summe of fifteen pounds Item I give unto Martha Chubb and her Daughter five pounds to be equally divided between them. Item I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Gyles Blagrave Ten pounds Item I give and bequeath unto my Niece Mary Paice five pounds. Item I give and bequeath unto Mr Thomas Cheeseman of Chipping Holy Minister of the Gospell five pounds. Item I give and bequeath unto Mr Jacob Ball of Kingscleare Holy Minister of the Gospell five pounds. Item I give and bequeath unto Mr Janes Pierce Minister of the Gospell Mr Jos Collins Senior Mr John Cooke the younger Mr Jos Hawkins (all of Newbury) the Summe of four score and ten pounds In Trust to be disposed of by them and their Successors to and for such uses Intents and purposes and in such manner as is hereinafter mentioned That is to say my will and meaning is That the said Trustees aforesaid shall keepe in their hands or else putt out to Interest thirty pounds which they shall think best the Interest whereof shall be applied towards the Support and Maintenance of the Minister of that Congregation that is now Mr Princes forever But further my will and meaning is That if at any time that Congregation should be dissolved or any fundamentall Error should be taught there contrary to the word of God my will is that my Trustees or their Successors shall have power to dispose of the said Thirty pounds to Ministers or other poore people that Sincerely feare God as they shall think fitt And further my will and meaning is the Summe of Sixty pounds be distributed by my Trustees aforesaid unto poore people of that Congregation now of Mr James Peirce at their Discretion Item I give and bequeath unto my Sister Strouds Daughters fifteen pounds equally to be divided between them Item I give and bequeath unto Mr James Peirce twenty five Shillings Item I give and bequeath unto Mr Jos Collins Senior Mr John Cooke the younger Mr Joseph Hawkins the Summe of Three pounds fifteen shillings equally to be divided between them And my will and meaning is that whenever any one of the foure of my Trustees dye or remove the Survivours of them shall choose another honest substantiall man to be a Trustee in the place of him soe dying or removing Item the Rest and Residue of my Goods and Chattells and personall Estate whatsoever not herein before given and bequeathed my debts legacies and funeral Expences being first paid and discharged I give and bequeath the same unto my two Nephews William Blagrave and George Blagrave whom I make joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament Item I doe revoke and disannul all other and former Wills by me made heretofore And in Testimony that this is my last Will and Testament I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale the Twenty fifth day of November in the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lady Anne by the grace of God Queen of Greate Britain ffrance and Ireland Queen Defender of the ffaith Annoq Domini One thousand Seaven hundred and Seaven//Richard Blagrave
