The Will of Thomas Bennett

 

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Bennett late of Claughton now living in an house Belonging to the Mannour of Birkenhead in the County of Chester yeoman Being Sick & weak of Body but of a sound disposing mind and Memory praised be Almighty God for the same do make and Ordain this my present Last Will and Testament in manner and Form following to wit First and Principally I commend my Soul unto Almighty God my heavenly Father hoping through Jesus Christ to obtain Pardon of all my Sins and to inherit everlasting Life And my Body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And as concerning the Disposal of all such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I Give Bequeath and Dispose thereof as followeth First I Will and Order And my Mind is that my just Debts and Funeral Expences shall be paid and discharged Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Sister Margaret Living near Hardin in Wales the sum of five shillings Also I Give and Bequeath unto her two Daughters the sum of one shilling apiece Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Nephew John Maurice Twenty Shillings Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Sister Elizabeth if she be alive and do come in twelve Months after my decease to demand it One Shilling Also I Give and Bequeath unto my late Sister Janes Children the Sum of One Shilling apiece if demanded within twelve Months after my Decease Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Loving Wife Mary all the Rest and Residue of my Temporal Estate whatsoever and of what kind soever Namely Household Goods Quick Goods Cattle & Chattells Money Bills Bonds Speciallies and all and singular my Personal Estate of what Nature and kind soever the same is or shall be and consist of And I do Nominate make constitute and appoint my aforesaid Loving Wife Mary Bennett Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament Revoking and disannulling all former Wills by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Bennett have set my hand and Seal to this my Last Will & Testament this Ninth day of September in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and thirty seven Thomas Bennett X
