This is the Last Will and testament of JOHN BELL of Barnard Castle in County Durham carpenter. I direct that ll my just debts and testamentary and funeral expences shall be paid out of my personal Estate not specifically bequeathed and I charge any deficiency on my real estate ... I give my grandson JOHN BELL my chest of Joiners Tools and my turning lathe and the tools and apparatus thereto belonging. I give to my grandson THOMAS BELL Chambers Dictionary of Arts and Sciences. To my grandson MARTIN BELL my electrical machine and Walkers Lectures on Philosophy and to my grandson HENRY BELL my Encyclopedia Britanica. The rest of my books I desire may be divided equally amongst my said grandchildren and delivered to them as they respectively attain 21 years.

I give and bequeath all the rest and residue and remainder of my Personal estate and Effects unto my daughters HANNAH BELL and FRANCES ?BEITH? in equal shares and appoint them executrixes of this my will and desire all that my undivided moiety half part or share ... in that messuage or dwelling house situate in Thorngate in Barnard Castle ... now occupied by Miss HODSON and others unto the use of ISAAC CAPES CUST of Barnard Castle Plumber Upon Trust ... to permit my said daughter HANNAH BELL to receive the Rents during her life and upon and after her decease these one moiety ... to the use of my said grandchildren JOHN BELL, THOMAS BELL and MARTIN BELL as tenants in common and I hereby revoke all former wills In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal 11 February 1830
