The Will of Sarah Beauford

 

In the Name of God Amen I Sarah Beauford of Hampstead in the County of Middlesex widow being of sound mind and memory and understanding God be praised and well knowing the Certainty of Death & the uncertain time thereof do make this my last Will and Testament ffirst I resign my Soul to God my Creator in hope of salvation through the alone Merits of my Saviour his son Jesus Christ as to my Body I resign it to the Earth to be decently Interred as near my late dear Mother as Possible and for my Estate which God of his infinite Mercy hath endowed me with I Give and dispose thereof in manner following that is to say, whereas I have been admitted a Tenant to the House and Premises in which I now dwell and Occupy by the Lords of the manor of Hampstead in the County of Middlesex aforesaid and have Surrendered the same into the hands of the said Lords of the Manor according to the Custom thereof with their and every of their Appurtenances by my then name and description of Sarah Bradshaw widow to for and upon such uses intents and purposes as and in and by my last Will and Testament in Writing shall direct now I do therefore Pursuant thereof Give Devise and Bequeath my said House and Premises which I at this time enjoy unto my dear Sister Mary Seville Spinster during the term of her natural life only and from and after her decease I Give Devise and bequeath the same and every Part thereof unto Mr Archibald Wynne but in case he should die before my said Sister then I Give Devise and Bequeath the same and every part thereof to his Eldest daughter Elizabeth Wynne Spinster and her Heirs and Assigns for ever Item I Give and Bequeath unto Mr Wynne the sum of twenty pounds Item I Give and Bequeath to Mr Hall the Sum of twenty pounds Item I Give and Bequeath to Mrs Elizabeth Hall Daughter to Mrs Hall the sum of a hundred pounds Item I Give and Bequeath to Mrs Sarah Weedon the sum of twenty pound Item I Give and Bequeath to Mrs Shaw Widow the Sum of ten pounds Item I Give and Bequeath to Lydia Askworth the Sum of Thirty Pounds all which Bequests I direct may be Paid within Six Months after my decease or as soon as may be convenient to my Executrix hereafter named I direct that my Just Debts may be in the first place discharged and as to all the residue and remainder of my Estate Real and Personal of what nature or kind soever I Give Devise and Bequeath to my said Sister Mary Seville and of this my last Will and Testament I constitute and appoint her sole Executrix hereby revoking and declaring null and void all former wills by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this day October the Second in the Year of our Lord 1766 Sarah Beauford
