The Will of Simon Batt

 

In the name of God Amen The twenty seaventh day of October in the yeare of our Lord God 1641 I Simon Batt of Stringston in the County of Somerset being weake of body but of good and perfect memory praised be god Doe make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and forme following: ffirst I bequeath my soule to Almighty god my makerand Redeemer and my body to be buried in the Chancell of Stringston Item I give unto Gregory Sindercombe sonne of Sindercombe Parson of Netherstoy five shillings Item I give unto his daughter Katherine five shillings All the rest and residue of my goods not given nor bequeathed my debts Legacies and ffunerall charges paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto Richard Cobett sen of Stingston whom I make and ordaine my full and whole Executor of this my last will and testament And I would intreat Robert Everett of Otterhampton and Bartholomew Dyer of Stogursey to be Overseers to see that this my last will and testament be accordingly performed In wittness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written Simon Batt Wittness hereunto John Cobett Richard Cobett junr
