In the Name of God Amen the thirteenth day of May Anno Dom 1731 I John Barrett of East garston in the county of Berks Blacksmith being sick of Body but of Good and perfect memory thanks be to God Almighty and calling to Rememberance the uncertain Effects of this transitory Life and that all flesh must yeild unto death when it shall pleas God to Call Doe make and declear this my Last will and Testament in maner and form following first being sorry for all my sins most ffirmlly desireing forGiveness of the same I commend my soul unto Allmighty God my saviour and Redemer in? whome and by whose merits I trust and believe assuredly to be saved and to have full Remission and forGiveness of all my sins and to inherit the Kingdome of Heaven and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently buryed att the discretion of my Executor hereafter mentioned or named And for the selling of my compound? Effects and such Lands Goods Chatels & debts as it hath pleased God to bestow on me I doe order Give and dispose the same in maner and form following that is to say Imprimis [in the first place] I Give (& bequeath) unto my Daughter Hannah Palmer the sum of thirty pounds of Lawfull mony to be paid by my Executor hereafter named within one yeare after my decease Item I Give and bequeath unto my third son Richard Barrett the sum of four score and ten pounds of Lawfull mony to be paid by my Executor within one yeare after my decease Item I Give and bequeath my fourth son Anthony Barrett the Like sum of four score and ten pounds (to be paid as afore? to Richard?) of Lawfull mony I Give unto my second son (Thomas) the sum of four shillings and I doe hereby make constitut and apoint my Eldest son John Barrett full Whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and testament and after my said Executor have paid all my debts and Legacys I do Give and bequeath unto my said son John my Executor all my Right ?ll and interest in all my free land in Lambourn feild and all my free Land lying disperst in East Garston feild now in my possesion and all my Housseall Goods debts Shop Book toolls and every thing or things whatsoever ip_____? mine or Appertaining unto me here by Revoking & making void all former wills & bequests by me formerly made and decleareing and provenceing?
