The Will of Anthony Barrett
The Will of Anthony Barrett of East Garston in the
County of Berks and Diocese of Sarum
I Anthony Barrett of East Garston in the County of Berks Blacksmith do make
this my last Will and Testament and dispose of such Worldly Goods and Estate
as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow on me as followeth that is to say
First I give my Loving Wife and her Heirs for Ever my Messuage or Tenement
in which I now live Situate in East Garston aforesaid with the Garden and
Appurtenances thereunto belonging And I give my Nephew Joseph Hopkins whom
now lives with me and his Heirs my Shop in East Garston aforesaid and all my
Estate and Interest therein he paying my Wife Yearly and every Year during
her Life Thirty Shillings if she demand the same but not otherwise Also I
give to my Nephews Thomas Richard and Anthony Barrett Twenty Pound a piece
and also to my Niece Jane Savory now the Wife of William Savory Twenty
Pounds Also I give Wm Thomas Anthony and James Palmer Twenty pounds apiece
and also to my Niece Mary now the Wife of Robert Stevens twenty pounds Also
I give to my Brother Thomas Barrett and my Sister Palmer One Guinea Each all
the above mentioned Legacys to be paid within one Year next after my Decease
Also I give Thomas Blake of East Garston aforesd Carpenter who marryed my
late Sister Jane Palmer five pounds to be paid within one Year next after my
Decease Also I give my Wifes Niece Anne Rogers if She lives to attain the
Age of Twenty One Years five Pounds Also all the Rest and Residue of my
Personal Estate I give to my loving Wife Katherine and appoint her Sole
Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former
Wills by me made In Testimony whereof I the said Anthony Barrett the
Testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Eighth Day of September in
the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty three
