The Will of Archibald Barnet

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Archibald Barnet of Alnmouth in the County of Northumberland Gentleman as follows (that is to say) ffirst I Give Devise and bequeath to my brother in Law Isaac Heard of the City of London Esquire and his heirs All my ffreehold Estates Situate lying and being in the Counties of Essex and Cambridge or elsewhere and Also All my Copyhold Estates situate lying and being in the County of Essex aforesaid which I hold of the Lords of the Manor of Chipping Walden and little Bury in the said County and all other my ffreehold and Copyhold Estates whatsoever and wheresoever whereof I am now possessed or to which I hold any right title claim or demand Upon Trust that my said Trustee or his heirs shall and do with all convenient Speed after my decease sell and dispose of All my said ffreehold and Copyhold Estates together or in parcels And out of the Monies arising therefrom in the first place pay to my dear and loving Wife Mary Barrett the Sum of ffifity pounds for and towards the Discharging of my Just Debts and then upon Trust to sell and Dispose of four hundred pounds part of the said Monies (which shall arise by such Sale by and with the Consent of my said Dear Wife to be first Signified in Writing under her hand for an Annuity for the Life of my said dear Wife to be paid to her yearly and every year During the term of her Natural life either half Yearly or Quarterly as she shall think proper And then to place the Residue and Remainder of such Purchase Money out at Interest either in the Bank of England or upon other Government Securities as my said Dear Wife shall direct and appoint by Writing with the Consent of my said Dear Wife to be first Signified in Writing under her hand and after the said residue and remainder of the said purchase Money shall be so placed out at Interest Then upon Trust to pay the Interest thereof from time to time as the same can become due to my said dear Wife for and during the term of her Natural life Upon Trust to pay and apply such remaining Principal Money Equally to and among my Brothers in Law the said Isaac Heard and Benjamin Heard and my Sister in Law Sarah Heard Share and Share alike in Case any of them shall happen to dye before my said Wife Then my Will is that the Share or Shares of him her or them so dying shall go to the Survivor or Survivors of them share and share alike Also I Give devise and bequeath to my said Brother in Law Isaac Heard his Executors and Administrators All and every Sum and Sums of Money to which I am now Intitled or have any right to in reversion or remainder by any Deed or Deeds Executed by the late Right Honourable Henry Earl of Suffolk deceased or by any other person or persons in any manner of wise and which is now Vested in me Upon Trust whe he my said Trustee his Executors and Administrators shall become intitled to and receive such Sum or Sums of Money by Virtue of this my Will to place the same out at Interest upon such Securities and in manner as before mentioned concerning the Residue of the Money arising by Sale of my said ffreehold and Copyhold Estates and pay the Interest thereof to my said dear Wife during her life and after her decease Then to pay and apply such Principal Sum and Sums of Money equally to and among my said Brothers in Law and Sister in Law of the Survivor of them Share and Share alike Also I do hereby give and bequeath to my said dear Wife all my Goods Chattels and Personal Estate of what kind or nature soever and do Nominate Constitutue and appoint my said dear Wife Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament Revoking hereby and making Void all former and other Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament and none other In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Eighteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty four Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Archibald Barret the Testator to and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of one another have set our names as Witness hereto Jno Thompson / Robt Richardson / Robt Richardson
