I John Barnes
of West Lulworth in the County of
Dorset Gentleman being of sound mind
memory and understanding do hereby
revoke all Wills Codicils and other
testamentary dispositions made by me
at any time or times heretofore and
do publish and declare this to be my
last Will and Testament I direct my
debts funeral and testamentary
expences to be paid out of my
personal estate I give and bequeath
unto my Brother William Barnes of
West Lulworth aforesaid the interest
or produce of the sum of six hundred
pounds sterling for and during the
term of his natural life such
interest or produce to be paid him
by my Executrixes hereinafter named
by two half yearly payments at Lady
Day and Michaelmas the first payment
thereof to begin and be made on such
of the said days as shall first
happen after my decease And from and
after the decease of my said Brother
William I give and bequeath the said
principal sum of six hundred pounds
sterling unto my Niece Hannah
Collins Mullet the Wife of Charles
Mullet of West Lulworth aforesaid
Carpenter to and for her owne use
and benefit And I direct that such
legacy or principal sum of six
hundred pounds sterling shall not be
subject to the debts controul or
intermeddling of the said Charles
Mullet or any future husband of my
said Niece Hannah Collins Mullet I
also give and bequeath unto my
Brother Henry Barnes of West
Lulworth aforesaid the interest or
produce of the sum of six hundred
pounds sterling for and during the
term of his natural life such
interest or produce to be paid unto
my said Brother Henry by my
executrixes hereinafter named at
Lady Day and michaelmas the first
payment thereof to begin and be made
on such of the said days as shall
first happen after my decease and
from and after the decease of my
said Brother Henry I give and
bequeath the last mentioned sum of
six hundred pounds sterling unto my
Niece Elizabeth Snelling of West
Lulworth aforesaid to and for her
own use and benefit and I direct
that such legacy shall not be
subject to the debts controul or
intermeddling of William Snelling or
any future husband of my said Niece
Elizabeth Snelling I give and
bequeath unto my Niece Ann Barnes
the Daughter of my said Brother
Henry Barnes the sum of one hundred
and fifty pounds sterling to and for
her own use and benefit I give and
bequeath unto my Nephew John Barnes
the Son of my said Brother Henry
Barnes the sum of one hundred and
fifty pounds sterling to and for her
own use and benefit I give and
bequeath unto my Brother in Law
William Samwayes of West Lulworth
aforesaid ffisherman the sum of ten
pounds sterling I give and bequeath
unto Philip Abraham Barnes the
younger of Blandford fforum in the
said County Woolstapler my two
Volumes of Hutchins History of
Dorsetshire and also the picture or
portrait of my late relative Mr
William Hatchard I give and bequeath
unto John Barnes (the brother of the
above named Philip Abraham Barnes)
the sum of fifty pounds sterling in
token of my respect for him I give
and bequeath my household goods and
furniture plate linen wollen and
china unto the said Charles Mullett
the said William Snelling and my
Niece the said Ann Barnes to be
divided equally among them share and
share alike All the rest residue and
remainder of my estate and effects
of whatsoever nature or kind which I
shall die possessed of and not
hereinbefore given I give and
bequeath unto the children of my
Nephew William Barnes of Hamborough
farm Yeoman to be equally devided
amongst them share and share alike
as tenants in common and not as
joint tenants And I do hereby
nominate constitute and appoint my
said two Nieces Hannah Collins
Mullet and Elizabeth Snelling joint
Executrixes of this my last Will and
Testament In Witness whereof I have
to this my last Will set my hand and
affixed my seal the twenty eighth
day of March in the year of our Lord
