The Will of John Banks

 

In the name of God Amen May the forth day 1699  I John Banks of Haydock in the Parish of Winwick and County of Lancaster yeoman being infirm of Body but of good and perfect memory praysed bee to God for the same .............. and makeinge voyd all and every former and other Will and Wills by mee made or p’tended to bee made doe make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme followinge And first and principally I Commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator assuredly believeinge that through the mersy of God and meritts of Jesus Christ I shall bee saved And my body I Committ to the earth its originall to bee buried at the Parish Church of Winwick in such Chrystian manner as shall seeme good to my Executor herein hereafter named  And for such worldly Goods as God in mercy hath Indued mee withall my mynde and will is and I doe dispose of the same as followeth first That all my due debts funerall expences and necessary Charges about the probate of this my Last will and Testament bee deducted out of the whole after which I give unto Thomas Atherton and John Atherton my nephews the sume of tenn pounds apeece  Item I give unto Mary Atherton my neece the sume of thirty pounds  Item I give unto Elizabeth Bordman my servant the sume of thirty pounds  Item I give unto James Bordman and Janne Bordman sonne and daughter of Thomas Bordman of Haydock the sume of five pound apeece  Item I give unto everyone that I am Godfather too twelve pence apeece  Item I give unto the Poores ..... of Haydock the sume of fifty shillings  Item all Residue and Remainder of my Goods Cattell and Chattells  I give unto my Executor herein hereafter named And lastly I doe Constitute ordaine and make my loveing brother Henry Banks of Bold my sole and absolute Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hopeing hee will see the same performed as my trust is in him reposed  In wittness hereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale the day and yeare above written.
