I Gilbert Bankes of Haydocke in the Countie of Lancast’r
husbandman beinge Weake of body But of p’fect Memorie Blessed
bee God doe make This my Last Will & Testament in forme
following, first I Bequeath my Soule in the hands of God
Allmyghtie that gave it assuredly Beleeveing through the
Merritts of my Savour and Redeemer Christ Jesus to have free
Pardon and Remission of my sinns And my Body I Comitt to the
earth from whence it was taken And as concerning such Wordly
goods as the Lord in Mercy hath lent mee My will is That my
debts and funerall exspences bee taken out of the whole of them
And whereas I am possessed of an Estate in Bold to mee and my
assignes for A terme yett in beeing BY virtue of A Lease from
Peter Bold now of Bold Esq’r I doe hereby assigne the same to
John Bankes my Brother and his Lawfull issue dureing the terme
of nyntie nyne yeares if the Lives in the above men’coned Lease
soe long endure Butt for Want of my brother John Banks and his
Lawfull issue Then I doe hereby further assigne the s’d tenement
to Henry Bankes my youngest Brother and his Lawfull issue
dureing the residue of the terme of Ninety nyne yeares if the
Lives in the above s’d lease soe longe live And of this my Last
Will and Testament I doe hereby Nominate and appoynt John Bankes
and Henry Bankes my Brothers my true and Lawfull Executors In
Wittnesse whereof I have hereunto putt my hand and seale the day
and yeare above Written
Sealed and delivered the word Lease being
enterlyn’d before sealinge in th pr’sence and witness of us
