The Will of Thomas Baker

 

Be it known That I Thomas Baker of the Parish called St Peter in the City of Bristol Grocer am weak of body but of sound Mind Memory and Understanding do make this my last Will and Testament ffirst I give my wife the use of all my plate household ffurniture as long as she shall live and likewise I give and bequeath to my wife the use and Interest of all my Estate for and during her natural life I hereby nominate and appoint my wife Executrix In Trust over my children and Effects and to see that my Children are properly Educated in their Learning and Apprenticed to suitable places among ffriends if possible I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas one Silver Tankard marked J M B in a cypher in the front and W B on the handle one Silver Dobin marked T B in a cypher on the front Two large Silver Table Spoons marked T M B one silver watch No 193 I give and bequeath to my son John one Silver Pint Cup marked W M W on the bottom and with J M B in a cypher one the front one Silver Dobin marked J B in a cypher on the front two large Silver Table Spoons marked T M B and one Eight Day clock I also give and bequeath to my Daughter Martha one silver Dobin marked M B in a cypher on the front twelve large Silver Table Spoons marked T M B one Silver Pint marked T M B in a cypher on the front one Silver Cream Jug marked M B in a Cypher and one Punch Ladle marked M B If either of my three Children should die before their Mothers decease then my Will is that that Childs share shall be equally divided between the survivors I hereby nominate and appoint Thomas Bonville of the Parish called St Paul in the City of Bristol Gent and George Napper in ….. precincts in the City of Bristol Linnen Draper over this my last Will and Testament to execute the same agreeable to the true Meaning and Intent thereof In good will to my Trustees and for the trouble they will have in the Execution of this my Will I give and bequeath unto each of them ten pounds and at my decease hereby Impowering my Trustees in Conjunction with my Wife to sell and part of my Estate whatsoever or wheresoever situated and lying I give to each of my children at the Arrival of twenty one Years one hundred Pounds out of what they are to receive at my Wife’s death when I desire my Trustees to sell and dispose of all and every part of my Estate and Effects and equally divide the whole between my Children then living and if either of said Children shall be dead and left a lawful child or children shall be entitled to its ffathers of Mothers Part I further request my Trustees that if the Interests of my Estate should be found deficient for my Wife’s comfortable support that they shall be at liberty to…out of the Principal to make up the deficiency I do hereby declare this to be my last Will and Testament the Day and Year being above written If my Wife should die before the Children are twenty one Years of Age I desire my Trust to keep the whole till they are Thos Baker
