The Will of James Bacon

 

In the Name of God Amen I James Bacon of Whitehaven in the County of Cumberland Marriner being of good & perfect memory and in good health of body blessed be God for the same but knowing the uncertainty of this life & being willing to Settle things in Order doe make this my last Will & Testament in manner & forme following that is to say ffirst and principally I comend my Soule into the hands of Allmighty God my Creator hopeing that through the meritts of my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ to have free pardon and full remission of all my Sinns & to inheritt everlasting life And my Body I comitt to the Earth to be buried in Such decent Order as to my Executors hereafter named shall be thought fitt  Item I will that all my Debts & funerall Charges be paid within convenient time after my Decease; Item I give & bequeath my loveing Wife Isabell Bacon all my Goods & Chattells during her naturall life; but I will that She order to be paid after her decease ten pounds good money of England unto my loveing nephew Bridgett Bacon; Item I give & bequeath unto my loveing Cosen Henru Bacon my best Suite of Cloaths that I shall have imediately before my Decease; I bequeath unto my loveing Cousin Issabell Bacon Sister of Henry Bacon one Shilling; Item my Will is that my loveing wife above s’d be Sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament and desire that my loveing friends William Marshall & brother Richard Hillbeck be Overseers of this my last Will & Testament and lastly I doe revoake & disamill All wills by me heretofore made either by Word or Writeing & declare this to be my last Will and Testament as wittness my hand & Seale this twenty first Day of November Anno D’i 1695 James Bacon mark & Sealed & Delivered in the presence of William Marshall John Canny mark Andrew pelin
