The Will of William Attryde

 

In the Name of God Amen I William Attryde the Elder of Chiddinfold in the County of Surrey Yeoman do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following principally I commend my Soul to God hoping to be saved by the death of Jesus Christ & I order my Body to be decently buried at the discretion of my Exor & Executrix hereinafter named And as concerning my Worldly Estate I give & dispose thereof as followeth to wit ffirst I give devise & bequeath unto my beloved Wife Elizabeth Attryde & her Assigns all that my Messuage or Tenement Garden & Premises with the Appurts situate lying & being in Merrow in the said County & now or late in the occupation of George .... or his Assigns Also I give devise & bequeath unto my said Wife Elizabeth & her Assigns All that my other Messuage or Tenement Garden Lands & Premises with the Appurts situate lying & being in Chiddingfold in the said County & now in my own occupation or my Assigns To hold unto and to the use of her my said Wife & her Assigns for and during the term of her natural life if she so long continue my Widow & unmarried Also I give & bequeath unto my said Wife Elizabeth the use of all & every my Household Goods Implements & ffurniture of Household Chattels rights Credits ready money & personal Estate whatsoever & wheresoever Now my Will & meaning is And I do hereby direct that my said Wife shall out of the rents Issues and profits of my said Messuages or Tenements & Premises with the Appurts & Personal Estate pay all my just Debts & ffuneral Expences and also maintain educate & bring up all my Children in the best way & manner she can until they shall attain their respective Ages of twenty one years & from & after the decease or marriage again of my said Wife which shall first happen I give devise & bequeath my said Messuages or Tenements & Premises with the Appurts unto & amongst all my Children that shall be living at the decease or marriage again of my said Wife Elizabeth their Heirs & Assigns for ever equally between them to be divided share & share alike as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants And I do further will & declare & my will & meaning is that if any or either of my said Child or Children shall happen to be dead at the decease or marriage again of my said Wife leaving Children or Child lawfully begotten then I such case I will the part or share of him her or them so dying to go & be paid equally to the Children of such deceased Child or Children equally between them to be divided Share & Share alike if more than one & if but one to that one Child but the Child or Children of such deceased Parent or Parents shall have no more than what their Parent or Parents would have had if they had been living And I do hereby nominate constitute & appoint my Son William Attryde & my said Wife Elizabeth Executor & executrix of this my last Will and Testament & I hereby revoke all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said William Attryde the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand & seal the tenth day of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred & ninety three _ William Attryde
