The Will of Ann Ashwell

 

In the name of God Amen I Ann Ashwell of Laighton Buzzard in the County of Bedford Widdow being sicke and weake in body but in perfect Sense and memory thanks be to god therefore and Consideringe the Uncertainty of this Lyfe and the Certainty of Death and Desiringe to settle things in Order Doe theirefore make and Ordain this my Last will and testament in Willinge and manner following Imprimis I yeild my Sole to god that gave itt trustinge in and thorough the Death and Passon of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to Receive fulland free pardon and forgivenes of all my Sins And for my body to be decently buried att the Descretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and for my worldly Estate as the Lord in his marcy hath Lent me I give and Despose the same as ffolloweth Item I give andbequeath unto Ann Ashwell my Daughter all that twenty pounds mentioned in her fathers will which I was to pay her att her Cominge of Age And I give unto her alsoe all my Household goods whatsoever And alsoe my Cow and Calfe Item I give and bequeath unto Richard Ashwell my Sonn all that my leasehold Land Lyinge and being Dispersedly in the feilds of Laighton Buzzard aforesaid with the appurtenances whatsoever their unto belonginge to Enter upon itt when he shall attain to One and twenty yeares of Age Item I make and Ordain William Budd my brother And Thomas Budd my Brother Joynt Executors in trust for all my Children and my desire alsoe is that they will take upon them to be guardians to all my Children and Receive the Rent of their Lands and see my Children Brought up And I Desire alsoe that William Stear of Laighton Buzzard aforesaid my kinsman be Overseer of this my will to help & assist my said Executors in the performinge of this my will In witness whereof I the said Ann Ashwell have hereunto sett my hand and Seale Renouncing and makinge void all former wills by me made Dated this Seven and twenty Day of August in the Eight and twentyth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland kinge Defender of the faith & Anno que Dom 1676
