The Will of Nicholas Ansell

 

In the name of God Amen the eighteenth day of September in the yeare of our Lord God one Thousand six hundred sixty and nyne, And in the one and Twentieth yeare of the reigne of our Gracious Soveraigne Lord Charles the second by the Grace of God King of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland Defender of the faith etc I Nicholas Ansell of Ockham in the County of Surrey yeoman being sicke in body but of perfect mynd and remembrance praised therefore bee Almighty God Doe make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and forme following That is to say First and primarily I commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God who gave it trusting in the merritts Jesus Christ my only Saviour and redeemer To have free pardon and forgiveness of all my sinnes & transgressions And to be made partaker of glory with him in his heavenly kingdome my body in hope of a joyfull resurrection I commit to the earth to be buried in Christian manner at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named and as touching such lands Tenements goods Chattells and personall estate as god hath given me in this mortall life I give & devise bequeath and bestowe of them as followeth Imprimis I give devise and bequeath all that my now dwelling house in Ockham aforesaid with all edifices building gardens orchards backsides and Lands thereunto belonging with the appurtenances unto my welbeloved wife Anne Ansell for and dureing her naturall life & after the decease of Anne my wife I give devise and bequeath my said house and lands with their and every of theire appurtenances in Ockham aforesaid unto my daughter Ann Decon wife of William Deacon in Wisley in the County aforesaid Yeoman & to his heires and assignes forever To have and to hold the said house & lands & every parte and parcel thereof with the appurtenances from & Immediately after the decease of Anne my said wife unto the said Anne Deacon my daughter and to her heires and assignes for ever paying out of my said house & Lands unto my sonne Nicholas Ansell Twenty pounds of good and lawfull money of England within one yeare after the decease of Anne my wife And Tenne pounds of good lawfull money of England unto my sonne Henry Ansell out of my said house and lands within one yeare after the decease of Anne my wife, But if my said sonne Henry Ansell shall happen to departe this life before the said money is payable Then my will is that the said tenne pounds here bequeathed unto him shalbe equally divided betweene his children or to the survivor of them And for want of such issue to remayne to my said daughter Anne Deacon Item I give and bequeath unto my two sonnes Nicholas Ansell and Henry Ansell five pounds a peece of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto them by my executrix within six months after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth carpenter Twenty pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto her within one yeare after my decease Item I doe give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Greene Tenne pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto her within one yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Amos Tenne pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto her within one yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary’s Two children five pounds a peece To be paid unto them when they shall accomplish their severall ages of one and twenty yeares Item I give and bequeath more unto my grandchild Mary Amos one bedsted one feather bed one bolster one pillow two blankets and Coverlett to be paid and delivered unto her when she shall accomplish her full age of one and Twenty yeares Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild Anne Deacon one feather bed bedsted bolster pillows two blanketts and one coverlet to be paid and delivered unto her when she shall accomplish her full age of one and twenty yeares

Item I make and ordayne my trusty and welbeloved friends Lawrence Ball yeoman of the privie Backhouse and John Francis of Ockham aforesaid overseers of this my last Will and Testament desiring them to be ayding and assisiting to my executrix hereunder named To see this my will faithfully performed according to my desire And I give unto each of them for their paynes to be taken therein five shillings a peece Item the rest & residue of all my goods Chattells and personall estate not by this my last will and Testament disposed of my debts and funeral charges being paid I give and bequeath unto my said wife Anne Ansell whome I make and ordayne my sole executrix of this my last will and Testament charging her in the name of god to see this my will faithfully performed according to my desire and I utterly revoke all former wills by me made either in word or writing In witnes whereof I the said Nicholas Ansell to this my last will and Testament have sett my hand and seale the day& yeare first above written Nicholas Ansell
