The Will of Edward Ansell

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Edward Ansell of Effingham in the County of Surrey Gentleman I direct all my Just Debts ffuneral Expences and Testamentary to be fully paid and satisfied by my Executor herein after named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease I give and bequeath to my ffather Edward Ansell of the Parish of Capel in the said County Labourer the Interest Dividend and Profits of One Hundred Pounds now standing in my Name in the Three Per Cents Consolidated Annuities for and during his natural Life and from and after his decease I give and bequeath the said Principal Sum of one Hundred Pounds together with all Interest that shall at that time be due thereon unto Thomas Layton of Effingham aforesaid his Executors or Administrators Subject Nevertheless and I do hereby charge the said Legacy of One Hundred Pounds with the Payment of the Legacies by me herein after bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my Brother John Ansell the Sum of ffifteen Pounds to be Paid him within One Month after my said ffathers decease in case he shall not at that time receive Alms of the Parish Officers of Dorking in the said County and my Will is and I do hereby direct my Executor to pay my said Brother the said Legacy accordingly but in case my said Brother shall at that time receive Alms Then I do hereby direct my said Executor to Pay my said Brother the said Legacy at any other time that he shall not receive such Alms in order that the Parish Officers of Dorking aforesaid shall not and may not have any Claim thereon I give and bequeath unto my Brother James Ansell the Sum of ffive Shillings to be paid him on his demanding it give and bequeath unto my Sister Mary now the Wife of the said Thomas Layton all my Linen Stockings and Night Caps for her own Use And I do hereby direct my Executor as soon as conveniently may be after my decease to sell and dispose of all my Wearing Apparel All the rest and residue of my Personal Estate I given and bequeath unto the said Thomas Layton for his own use absolutely And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Thomas Layton Executor of this my Will And Lastly hereby revoking all Wills by me at any time heretofore made I do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Edward Ansell hath to this my last Will and Testament written on two Sheets of Paper to the first Sheet thereof set my Hand and to the second and last set my hand and seal this twenty first day of January in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and One       Edward Ansell
