The Will of Anne Abrathat
In the Name of God
Amen The Sixth Day of November Anno Domini
One thousand six hundred seaventie foure and
in the six and twentieth yeare of the Reigne
of Our Soveraign Lord Charles the second of
England by the Grace of God King of Scotland
France and Ireland Defender of the Faith I
Anne Abrathat of London widdow late the wife
and nowe Executrix of the last Will and
Testament of James Abrathat deceased being
at present weake in bodie, but of sound and
perfect mynd and memorie, Praised be God for
the same, calling to mynd the certaintie of
death, and the uncertaine houre thereof, and
being willing and desirous to make my last
Will and Testament and to settle and dispose
of such temporall Substance and Estate as
God of his Goodness hath blessed mee withall
in this world, revoking and making void all
former and other Wills by mee at any time
heretofore made (Doe for the prevention of
all Disputes and Controversies which may
happen after my death concerning my Estate)
make publish and declare this my onely last
Will and Testament as followeth (that is to
say) First and principally above all other
things I commend my Soule into the Hands of
Allmightie God my Creator assuredly
believing by and through the Merits of my
onely Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to
have remission of all my Synns, and to enjoy
eternall life: And my Bodie I committ to the
Earth, to be decently buried at the
discretion if my loving Sonne and Executor
hereafter named: And as touching and
concerning the disposition of my temporall
Substance and Estate, I give and dispose of
the same as followeth: First I give and
bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Linch
wife of John Linch (whome I have alreadie
preferred in marriage) twentie shillings:
Item I give and bequeath unto my loving
brothers Abraham and Peter Johnson and their
wives and Sisters Mary Dyke, Elizabeth
Ferrer, Susanna Daniell and Sarah Burkin, to
each of them twentie shillings apeece to buy
them Rings in remembrance of mee: Item all
the rest residue and remainder of all and
singular my Goods Plate monyes Rings Jewells
Household stuff furniture moveables and
materialls in and about my nowe
dwelling-house within Leadenhall which shall
be .... at the tyme of my death And all
other my Leases Chattells rights credits and
personall Estate whatsoever and wheresoever
I give will devise and bequeath unto my
loving Sonne James Abrathat, Leaving and
devising thereout unto my two Daughters Anne
and Mary such part and portion of my said
Estate as my said Sonne and Executor shall
in his Brotherly Love and discretion deeme
and adjudge fitting and requisite for their
future livelyhood and maintenance My said
Sonne and Executor first paying and
satisfying all my Debts ffunerall Expences
and Legacies by this my Will given and
bequeathed And I doe make ordaine and
constitute my said Sonne James Abrathat full
and sole Executor of this my last Will and
Testament, desiring him to see the same
performed according to my true meaning
herein before declared, And I desire my said
Sonne to be carefull and loving unto his
Sisters as I have been loving unto him: In
Witness whereof I have to this my last Will
and Testament conteyned in these two sheets
of Paper put my hand and Seale the Day and
yeare first above written: Ann Abrathat
Signed sealed published and declared by the
said Anne Abrathat for her last Will and
Testament in the presence of us: Mary Dyke:
