If you wish to obtain a copy of a Will - if there was one, or indeed the Grant of Representation.

You will firstly need to search the Probate Calendar to see if a Grant was issued.
The Probate Calendar is separated into a different volume for each year. The entries in each volume are then listed alphabetically by surname. Information varies across different entries, but each entry typically includes:
Probate date.
Full name of the deceased.
Death date.
Death place.
Registry where issued.

You can search these Probate Calendars at the Probate Registries, I have listed these registries below (District Probate Registries & the Probate Sub-Registries) complete with contact details. I have also listed the details of the Principal Probate Registry, where there is a complete set of Calendars.

You can now also search the Probate Calendars online, which can save the travelling, and is also ideal if you cannot manage to get to one of the Probate Offices.

All registries are open Monday to Friday. Most are open 9.30am to 4.00pm, but there may be some minor local variations:

(e.g. in London, the hours are 10.00am to 4.30pm), so I would recommended that you check before attending.
